The wanderlust was instilled early on, inspired by voracious reading of VOGUE magazines from the 70’s & 80’s.

Since 17 years of age, Ruth left her hometown of Dublin, to study a B.A. in Fashion Marketing in the U.K. then a career in Fashion Design in New York ensued.

2012, Ruth returned to her roots, to bring her blend of Ralph Lauren Life style home. GONNE WILDE, inspired by Maud Gonne & Oscar Wilde, began with a month on the road around Ireland. Based on her preferred selection of manufacturers, before GPS in the car, the sourcing began!

Ruth’s style of product development requires meeting the manufacturers & visiting the factories for inspiration & true understanding of their capabilities.

Timber double doors with large handles depicting swans. Donated by the WB Yeats society of Western Australia. A reminder of Yeats love of mute swans, who can mate for life. Ever the romantics.

RUTH C WAS ALWAYS INSPIRED BY THE ROMANTIC LITERARY SET OF THE 1930‘S IN IRELAND AND GONNE WILDE DRAWS INSPIRATION FROM 1930’S IRELAND. SUCH ROMANTIC HEROES AND HEROINES AS MAUD GONNE, MICHAEL COLLINS, WILLIAM BUTLER YEATS AND OF COURSE OSCAR WILDE. MAC GOWAN IS TAKEN WITH THEIR STYLE AS MUCH AS THEIR LITERARY TALENTS. THESE WITTY SPIRITED PERSONALITIES BREATH LIFE INTO THE OUTRAGEOUS IRISH LOOKS OF GONNE WILDE.
