Ruth Mac Gowan, has had a design career where she has moved about for 15 years, currently, she is based in London.
Ruth spent her formative years in Ireland studying art, drawing fashion illustrations and dreaming of a career in fashion. Little did she know, after a degree in Fashion Marketing, U.K., this affinity for style would lead her into a life long career with heritage brands in the luxury & volume markets.
Beginning as a designer in NYC with Ralph Lauren for 6 years following 2 years with Hackett, London to working 5 years in Dunnes Head office, Dublin. Later on, through her personal network, Ruth free-lanced on design projects for Irish brand Vedoneire, Women’s wear collection, plus an Accessories collection for Faconnable in Nice France.

Saturday walk in the countryside mood inspiration board for Vedoneire womenswear.
In this fashion consultancy role for Vedoneire, Ruth met the brief by building rapport, understanding the current customer, while predicting mild trend adaptations that would appeal to a new female customer. Throughout, Ruth was very involved with the sourcing of raw materials, attending trade shows, visiting factories plus partnering on the financial planning.
